Description

La Maison Cuisinier is accessed by a small lane way off the main street in Haut de Cagnes, so it is easy to unload your things from the car close to the house. Entering through large wooden gates you arrive directly on the terrace and picturesque views beyond. A pretty lemon tree dominates this spacious south facing area – super for entertaining with outdoor tables and chairs and an impressive outside fireplace, pizza oven and BBQ. Another major draw is the cooling pool (big enough for adults and children but more like a hot tub without jets nor heat) just added – perfect for summer months with a chilled glass of rose! Colourful Mediterranean plants and kitchen herbs add colour to the terrace, which is an ideal place to welcome friends and family during the warmer months.

Ground Level
You leave the terrace and enter directly into the heart of the house – the kitchen. This is a total delight for food lovers – not only being perfectly equipped but also a comfortable area to hang out on bar stools with a morning coffee and newspaper, watching all the activities in the house going on around you!

The ground level is open and bright with arched, glass, French doors opening onto terraces to the south and east – off the kitchen is a corner fireplace with a comfy seating area. Through a large archway you have another comfortable seating spot with sofa and leather armchairs opposite the sweeping, wooden staircase to the next level. A w.c. is provided on this level and every other level. A narrow corridor runs along the side of the house off the kitchen area with small fireplace and desk. The flooring is in original deep red tiles, the walls are white with large sumptuous paintings and charming antique features, such as ornate radiators, sparking chandeliers and decorative candelabras.

First Floor
With wooden beams and tiled floors opening onto the bright and large terrace, the master bedroom carries the same airy feel present throughout the rest of the house. Bold paintings line the walls and there is a king-sized bed (180cm) with bedside tables. The bedroom and ensuite bathroom have been recently renovated, offering a shower and w.c. There is an air con unit in this bedroom plus a dvd player.

Second Floor
On the second floor a twin bedroom with two antique wooden beds (90cm) can be found plus another bedroom off this with a charming brass bed of 100cm – best suited to one adult or two small children. Both bedrooms have ceiling fans. Stairs directly descend into the twin bedroom from the top floor bedroom and there is a w.c. beneath the stairs.

Third Floor
The top floor provides  another bedroom which opens onto a terrace with large round table perfect for catching the last of the sun – a charming, antique double bed (140cm) and bathroom with bath with telephone shower and w.c. are provided for your comfort. A large stand up fan is there for your use.

Independent Studio
By returning to the terrace from the main entrance and turning right you will find the doors to an independent studio completely renovated, for additional accommodation. There is a queen-sized bed (160cm), wardrobe, dining table and kitchen with fridge and oven. The style is simple with tiled floors and there is a ceiling fan for summer. The studio has its own bathroom with shower and w.c.

A washing machine is available for guests to use. All rooms have fans or ceilings fan, except for the main bedroom, which has air conditioning.

La Maison Cuisinier offers a wonderful mix of rich elegance with its tasteful choice of antiques and paintings combined with practical design and cosy comfort. The kitchen and outside dining area are a rare and total joy for guests who enjoy entertaining and cooking. What better place to find yourself in, where you can pick up fresh produce in the local market only a 5 minute walk from the house and conjure up culinary delights in the most perfect setting.

The free shuttle bus, which runs from the town to the village every 15 minutes, has a bus stop close to the house. Private parking is very rare in the medieval village but free street parking and the paying village and town car parks are usually within a 2-7 minute walk away – you also have the option to jump on the free shuttle bus close to both car parks.

Restaurants and cafes are a 5 minute walk away, as is the town below with its food market, supermarket, bakeries, chemist, bank and selection of shops. The town is well services with buses going to most places on the Cote d’Azur, plus there is a train station. The sea is a 25-30 minute walk and a free beach bus is provided from the town in July and August.
