Casa Katarina is a village house built in stone and bursting with charm and original features. Located in a quiet, cobbled pedestrian street just off the main street – so you can unload your car reasonably close to the house if driving plus it is a 5 minute walk to the main castle square with all it’s restaurants.
Once owned by a famous French musician/actor called Marcel Mouloudji, then by a Swedish couple, who gave the house its name. The current owners bought the property 5 years ago and this will be their first year renting out for the holiday period.
Four steps will take you up to the front door – a medieval style, arched, wooden door with iron work. An ivy plant twists and turns its way up the facade making this an intriguing, little property. Deceiving from the outside – the house is approximately 50m2 and sleeps up to 5 people with a double and single bedroom plus double sofa bed in the sitting room. You will find a wonderful sea view terrace at the top.
Enter the house directly into a simple, Provencal-style kitchen with striking red tiled work surface – there is a fridge/freezer, oven and electric cooktop, Belfast sink, Nespresso coffee machine and kettle plus plenty of cupboards and shelves for storage, a pretty window and the original terracotta floor tiles and ceiling beams run through to the sitting room via a glass door.
Passing a large fireplace on the way – a comfy sofa, which converts to a 150cm bed, stands at the far end of the room with armchair, foot stool, coffee table, fold out dining table, dvd player and large cabinets as company. This cosy corner gets sun most of the afternoon.
A partially open staircase takes you to the first floor with a charming, little bathroom at the top of the stairs. It is equipped with a shower, bidet, wash-hand basin, washing machine and w.c. There is a window over the main street below, another wonderful old, curved door and brick-red tiles.
This entire level has black and white floor tiles and ceiling beams, there is plenty of cupboard space, a mirror and collection of DVDs and books. At the far end is a large, bright and open, double bedroom with a 180cm double bed, which can be divided into 2 single beds if preferred. A sea view can be enjoyed from the large windows.
Stairs take you up directly into a bedroom with single bed (90cm), desk and access to terrace. A village roof top view can be found from the window above the bed and the wall to the terrace is almost entirely in glass with glass door and windows, making this a very bright space.
Finally you access a pretty terrace with open view of the village and sea view from Cagnes to Cap d’Antibes. South-west facing so plenty of sunshine, a dining table and chairs, 4 sun loungers and small BBQ is provided plus a light and water tap for your convenience.
Casa Katarina has wifi and plenty of fans for the warmer months – this home is best suited to a family or good friends as although the bedrooms are on separate levels, there are no doors closing them off.
