Maison Elisabeth is an adorable and comfortable, 2 bedroom, village house (95m2) in the heart of the village, close to the Castle.
Decorated with style and good taste – your eye is continuously drawn to the paintings, sculptures and eclectic bits and pieces adorning every wall and surface. Comfort mixed with a medieval charm – this home is a delight to stay in any time of the year.
Enter the front door and arrive directly into the main sitting room area with large working fireplace, dining table and cosy sofas – pretty open views from the window. There are white walls and dark wooden beams through out the entire house.
Cosy reading or relaxing area with charming chaise longue on the landing at the top of the stairs. The master bedroom is situated at the end of the corridor with a queen sized bed (160cm) – wardrobe, ceiling fan and views over the rooftops to the hills beyond. A bathroom is conveniently positioned beside the bedroom with apricot and white, Provencal style tiles, w.c and bath tub with telephone shower.
The top level has a wonderfully bright kitchen under the roof eaves – well equipped with fridge, oven, electric hob, dishwasher, small kitchen table and large sliding glass doors onto the prettiest of terraces with fabulous open views of the hills plus a small sea view towards Antibes. The terrace (10m2) is west facing so has afternoon and early evening sun. There are plenty of plants, a table for outside dining and seating for 6 – simply perfect for balmy summer evenings with an electric awning to protect you from the strong, summer sun or light rain.
The lower level is a long, vaulted room, which can sleep up to 4 people – there are 2 beds – a double bed (140cm) and a sofa bed, which has a permenant mattress (140cm) added to make it as comfortable as a bed. Both beds are separated by a wooden screen so ideally suited to parents with children, teens or good friends. There is a bathroom with shower and w.c off the bedroom, plus a utility area with washing machine, dryer and extra fridge.
With 3 sets of stairs – some open – this house is not suitable for toddlers. Fans are provided for the warmer months and Maison Elisabeth is a 2 minute walk to the Chateau and main Castle Square.
The free shuttle bus (No. 44), which runs from the town to the village every 15 minutes, has a bus stop 3 minutes walk from the house and you can drive a car to a 2 minute walk from the house, if dropping off luggage. Private parking is very rare in the medieval village but free street parking and the paying village and town car parks are usually within a 2-5 minute walk away – you also have the option to jump on the free shuttle bus close to 2 car parks in the town below .
The house is a very short stroll to a good selection of restaurants and the village’s main square, which is a hive of activity during the warmer months. The town below is within easy walking distance, where you can find a boulangerie, food market, boutiques, supermarket, cafes, post office, etc. The free shuttle bus is always an option if you don’t feel like walking. The town is well services with buses going to most places on the Cote d’Azur, plus there is a train station. The sea is a 25-30 minute walk and a free beach bus is provided from the town in July and August.
